Gas Street

Saw these two hanging about in the lock swim at the top of Atherton Locks. The sign on the bottom of the boots says "I only asked for a pay rise!"
David has managed to get most of the boat repainted. He has not attempted the sides though he says he will just polish them. We are also hoping to have the sign writing done too so that we can be all smart again.
I have been playing around with my CraftROBO and have actually managed to make a couple of files. The first one is a reindeer and the second a snowflake. I'm pretty pleased with myself and must upload them on my cutter groups.
This card was made from two peel-offs mounted onto red, gold and green card. The green card edges were cut with fancy scissors. The other two corners are two chipboard trees covered in glitter glue to make them sparkle.

Gas Street

I know, the picture has got nothing to do with a canal, except that it just about within walking distance. It is the almshouses in the centre of Bedworth. I love almshouses and would love to be able to live in one. If I had a choice this would be the one. It is absolutely fabulous.
The weather has just turned and we have had rain on and off today. I plucked up the courage to make an appointment at the hairdressers, dentist and osteopath. I have just come back from the osteopath and feel great, and I've made the card I promised the hairdresser (hope he likes it enough to buy some for their business) and I haven't got toothache so everything should go alright.
We had a visit from the Community Liaison Officer today and and patrol from the Community Police. Looks like the talk with our local Inspector has brought results. Just need them out there at 6am on Sunday morning.
Back to the Christmas cards I'm afraid. I have masses of them. This one has pink snowflake paper with curved edges that I did with scissors, I also cut the right edge the same way. Two peel-off strips were stuck down the sides. A really sparkly snowflake which came from a Christmas decoration (a whole string of them from the £1 shop) in the top left hand corner and a shiny peeloff pink one on the bottom right corner.
PS: thanks to Rhia for the tip about the font on the previous post.

Gas Street

The BW offices and workshops on the Hatton Flight. They spent a lot of money there not long ago but I don't know if they are still used. We always go past too early in the morning to see if it is open.
The weather is still continuing to be warm and sunny and we have been able to keep the front doors open and watch everyone going past. Listening to the comments about the name of the boat. I have got my cards out for sale, but most people seem to be walking past and not even seeing them!!!
There is an Artsfest on in town this weekend - lots of bands, groups, ballet and stuff. It really gives the place a buzz.

This is my card for the Daring challenge this week. I made it some time ago. The two hearts are stamped and embossed in silver and one was coloured in in red and the other in silver. The word was a rub-on that I got free with a magazine (I think), anyway I've not been able to find it for sale anywhere.

Gas Street

Bad news about the noise from The Panama bar. A man at the Environmental Office of the Council says that we do not dwell in dwellings!!! Therefore we do not exist and cannot complain and the bar can continue pumping out noise (music?) and letting drunken people out onto the towpath 24/7 to scream and yell and fight and try and jump the lock. Great.

A picture of our Daughter, Caroline and fiance Curtis and a cheetah from Canberra Zoo. They spent a day there helping the staff looking after the animals.

Caroline and Curtis are both in Chile now on the start of their 6 month odyssey of South and Central America. We pan to meet up with then in Rio for the Carnival.

I've been quite productive in the card making industry lately. Here are two cards I made "cased" from one of the magazines. I had scanned some swirly paper and I changed the colour schemes to black and white and white and black.

The one on the left is 3/4 covered in the paper, a black border on the bottom and a pink/white/black check ribbon across the join. The little bag is made from card and covered with the black paper. Three pink prima flowers are used for decoration and a peel-off 18. There is room of a name or happy birthday if required.

The one on the right is made on a black card. The black paper was stuck down on the right hand side with the ribbon down the join. The flip flops were cut out in card and covered in the white paper. A hole was punched in each one and the ribbon threaded through and wound around the back. Pink prima flowers were then added for the decoration and the 18 is made from silver cardboard numbers. Not really room for a name but I suppose pink letters could be added down the right hand side on the patterned paper.

Gas Street

The Cape of Good Home Public House by the two Cape Locks on the Grand Union. We have never stopped here as the locals seem a bit dubious (we once saw drug dealing going on on the bridge).

The weather, of course, has been glorious since we've been back. The shopping gets delivered from Waitrose, there is a newspaper shop next door - life is sweet.

We may not even have to move from our mooring - but more of that later.

David joined the library today and asked about books by Solhenitzin (not sure how to spell it).

The reply was "Who?".

"Alexander Solhenitzin, the Russian author, Nobel prize winner."

Reply: "Reference or fiction?"

Even the library is dumbing down

It's too nice to think of Christmas cards - so I've got one of a beach. A blue card, torn blue and yellow paper and some embellishments - really easy and fast. I even sold it!!!

Gas Street

As you can see we are back on our Mooring in Gas Street. We have given up on cruising this year. What with the floods and bad weather. The sun will now shine every day till Christmas!

We were up early on Friday and reached the top of the Farmer's Locks by 11am and back on the mooring by 1115. Very tired and aching all over.
The pictures from now on are going to have to be from the archives or you'll get really board of Gas Street. This one is of one of the high bridges on the Shroppie. Very romantic, but also dank.

This card is made with 2 strips of blue paper with white stars, bordered with silver peel-off borders.
The chipboard star is stuck onto blue corrugated card, silver paper blue card, white card and silver card. Red string is tied around the first three layers. and across the bottom of the card. I made 3 slits in the spine of the card to thread the string through.
Three peel-off silver stars were then stuck in the top right hand corner.
