David was up and ready for the "getaway" early and after taking on water we set off to find the Barton Aqueduct already open so we sailed on through meeting several boats coming in the opposite direction all asking if the bridge was open.
We stopped just after Plank Lane Lift Bridge and settled down to watch the Grand National. My horse fell at the first!! We didn't see any boats on the canal by Aintree this year, so I don't know if there was a meeting there.
When we went with the Mersey Motor Boat Club several years ago we were surprised at the quick start for the journey back. As soon as the last hoof hit the ground after the Canal Turn Jump all the boat engines started up and the race was on to see who could get back to their moorings first.
So on an equine theme. The horse that pulls the trip boat in Hungerford.
I started with a red card and added a back strip of card with a red ribbon wrapped and tied around it. The photograph was matted onto white, red and silver card and added and then three black buttons were stuck opposite the picture on the right hand side.
It was supposed to be a horse race card, but I couldn't find the picture.
