Castlefields, Bridgewater Canal

Yesterday was spent mainly on the boat, though I went to the Salford Quays Retail Outlet (2 craft shops next door to each other!)

So, another trip out today. We took the train to Lancaster this time. It was a lovely sunny day and we enjoyed ourselves wandering around the cobbled streets around the castle and priory.

Then we had a quick trip to the canal - which is where David took this photo of one of the wrought-iron seats on the towpath.

For lunch we went to The Borough so that David could do a pub review for Canals and Rivers but you'll have to buy the mag to see what we thought it it.

The moorings here are filling up fast with people waiting for the Barton Swing Bridge to open on Saturday. Raggle Taggle turned up yesterday afternoon. Back in 1999 Jean and David breached up with us when we both had brand new boats being "shown" at the IWA Boat Festival in Worcester. We have only seen them once since then when we were travelling in opposite directions on the Lancaster Canal. So it was good to catch up with them. We are heading the the same directing this time so may even share a few locks with them this time.

Just so the "other side" don't take umbrage - here is the Liverpool card. Made in just the same way as the other ones.
